Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry visit Coney Island to reconnect; while there, the Hunters attack the park to capture a reformed Tombstone. Not only that, but during open-world gameplay, players will be able to freely swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales at the touch of a button, akin to GTA 5’s character-swapping feature. While Spider-Man 3 hasn’t yet been confirmed by Insomniac, though there hasn’t been much news from the company lately, it would be strange for the successful series to not continue with another sequel.

The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless. An electric bike race feels silly enough in a Spider-Man game, but when the stakes are just “I need someone to try out my electric bike”, it’s hard not to think Miles and Peter have more pressing stuff to be getting on with. Far too much of what you’re doing feels like padding from the early days of open world games—there’s more inspiration here from Crackdown than there is from GTA V.

On top of that, it’s expected to set the scene ahead of the game’s arrival, giving us further insight into what Peter, Miles, and MJ have all been getting up to since their last appearance.
